Kathrin was born in 1970 in Waedenswil, Switzerland in the Canton of Zurich. She grew up bilingual, speaking both German and Italian. After completing high school with Matura Type B in German-speaking Switzerland, she studied for two years at the School of Interpreting in Milan, Italy, graduating with the Interpreter and Translator Certificate for Italian / German. This was followed by two years of study at the Zurich School of Interpreting, graduating with a German / Italian / French translator's certificate.
She has been a language course instructor for adults (German / Italian) since 1992 at various schools in the German and Italian speaking parts of Switzerland. She has also been working as a freelance translator (German / Italian) since that time. In 2005-2006 she completed additional training as a language course instructor in the field of continuing education for adults, and graduated with the SVEB and EUROLTA certificates.
